Period: Theory, Thoughts and Actions
I think I do learn a lot from the course. Besides, it makes us get much more understanding of the period. Also, after taking this course, I initiated keeping abreast of the social issues regarding the period poverty. As a male, it never mattered a lot for me until having the thorough discussion of that. Gradually, I will put myself into the female’s shoes in that I am capable of sympathizing with them with more empathy. Needless to say, there is considerable knowledge that I seldom focused on given to me in this course. It is absolutely an informative and helpful course for us in this diverse society.
Before I took this class, what I know about period is only based on my personal experience and the biological knowledge I learned during high school. I really appreciate the chance to get to learn more about periods, which are deeply involved in a female's life, in different concepts and learn topics or issues about it. It is sad to know that there are still a lot of people suffering from period poverty, period stigma and period inequity from the sharings. And it is especially shocking and sad to know that these problems also exist in Taiwan. However, the actions that the lecturer Vivi and her team and lecturer Elle take are really inspiring. In my opinion, this course not only shared a lot of information about period, but also motivated people to take action to try to improve the conditions and make changes. And again, I believe that building up correct cogination about period instead of avoiding talking about it is the most necessary way to eliminate all misunderstoods, and I think this course reaches the goal indeed.
